NPR - Tiny Desk Concerts

I discovered Tiny Desk Concerts the other day and can't stop clicking through to listen to them! It's a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, that's for sure.

This one I loved and includes my favourite cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. It's amazing what you can do when you put some of these musicians together in a room - these varying backgrounds and styles come together in some amazing ways in this video.

Beach Volleyball Legs

Just about finished with the Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge - a four day challenge where local companies participate and get to know one another through some friendly and active events. This included things like a relay triathlon, beach volleyball and team trivia.

It was lots of fun, though sometimes a bit frustrating when teammates do not show up (like doing a relay triathlon with only 3 people!). However, I think that's part of the growing pains for a first year with regards to organizing the events and the teams. I think this is a great initiative and it will be fantastic next year!

Office Jeans

Grooving for the office, especially since I'm doing Jeans Days now for the United Way campaign. Now, to find that elusive white shirt that just goes with everything...

Project 365: Day 272

Project 365: Day 272

So tired from the day's activities that I just turned around and snapped a picture of the smirking cat.

Project 365: Day 271

Project 365: Day 271

I love this part of the year for the cooler weather and waking up around the time when the sun rises and greets me with these lovely colours.

A little behind on my posts because of my schedule and participating in the Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge. Catching up on posts for Project 365 today and tomorrow!

DIY Modern Beanbag Pouf

A simple tutorial if you know how to sew and makes a great addition to most homes to add extra seating or a footrest. I think one of my investments in the next year or two will be in a sewing machine. While I can sew and hem by hand, it would just be so much simpler if I had a machine!

Grilled Sandwiches

Never a good sign when I'm craving food like this! Warm comfort food for the fall. Bacon, cheese and mushrooms... I think I'm going to have to make one of these this weekend.

Old Film

I'm still toying around with the idea of buying a few film cameras to play around with. Oh the possibilities...

Neon Sunshine Yellow

Sometimes the neon trend is a little much, other times, like this, it's perfectly right with the right neutrals to balance it out.

Live Your Dream

If you won't, no-one else will live it for you.

Polka Dot Sweater

Such a perfect sweater for the fall, I wish I knew where to get it! Love it with this pop of bright colour, though I would probably use red!

Project 365: Day 270

Project 365: Day 270

A beautiful light that came in this morning through the office window. Even if the mornings are early, they can be lovely. I was almost leaving when I saw the light filtering in and just had to pause to capture it.

Long days when you have to be at your desk for most of it, so much paperwork these days! Tomorrow promises to be more active!

Wall of Music

I wonder what it would look like if I had a whole wall like this...? Maybe invert it so it is white notes on a grey background...

Fall Heels

Perfect and light layers (and I wore something similar in colour combination to it today!) as the fall weather sets in. I love the heels, though I have to leave them at the office so I can avoid walking the streets with them. Too many holes and bumps to navigate in tall stilettos safely!

Project 365: Day 269

Project 365: Day 267

The cat is hiding among the kitchen chairs as I'm sitting here watching the leadership videos. Love the reflection off her eyes of the rungs of the chair. The kitchen table has become my office until I have a more permanent spot. I definitely can't work from the couch for extended hours anymore, my hips can't take it!

Coffee/Tea Lab Concept

An interesting and unique take on a percolator system for both tea and coffee. While I'm not sure that it is the most practical, it's definitely eye catching and a lovely design. Simple and elegant.

Urban Jungle Slouchy Beanie

Been seriously considering wearing a hat in the mornings, as the cold really nips at my ears! This tutorial for a slouchy beanie is super cute, if I only I knew how to crochet! Pair it with an outfit like the above, and you'll have a great fall outfit!

Project 365: Day 268

Project 365: Day 268

Foggy Fort McMurray morning. One of the interesting things about living in the valley itself is the amount of fog that rolls in the morning, and disappears by the afternoon. If you drive up the hill in the morning, you start off seeing very little in the fog, and then you suddenly emerge into clear blue skies. As cold as it looked, it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon!

The Lomocraft Exhibition

This looks simply amazing. What an interesting way to present the history of lomography. I love how utterly detailed it is, I wonder how long it took to put this together? In either way, big kudos to the artist behind this!

Fall Stripes

Time to seriously think of layering as the weather gets chillier. Perfect combination of the striped top, red jacket and crop jacket! Also, going to have to try the bun again, though with this recent haircut, it's a little hard to get it all up...

Project 365: Day 267

Project 365: Day 267 - Fall is Here

Lone Fall Tree

Fall Reflection in the Snye

Fall Laneway

Busy Sunday! Started with a pancake breakfast, followed by walking to MacDonald Island for the trade show. There is no doubt now that Fall is upon us! Here you can see the yellow creeping right into the landscape, a bit change from what it was a few weeks ago in the snap that I took then! Hoping to go out again this week and next to finish capturing the full change to yellow.

Bray's Island House

While not overly practical for the cold Canadian climate, I do love the idea of lots of windows on a house and the feeling of openness that it gives to almost any room. This house by James Choate Architecture is lovely, and is situated well on the site.

Ballerina Skirt

I had to link this one up, the skirt is just so beautiful and light and airy. It pairs beautifully, if not somewhat unconventionally, with this green blazer.

Lazy Saturday Cat

Project 365: Day 266

A somewhat quiet Saturday with a lazy morning with the cat, I call this the "don't even think of bothering me look." She's got it down pat!

Had a short walk to return some things, get a coffee then the fantasy hockey pool draft in the afternoon. Comfort food was what was called for in the evening, with a delicious beef stir fry by the husband. He's really getting good at this!

Home Coffee Station

Things to consider for the future - a coffee station at home that is not on the counter itself. I would love a place for my (future) espresso maker and kettle for tea. Would be great for guests as well.

Love this iteration of it, particularly those cheery yellow cups!

Red, Leather and Lace

I quite love the colour of her hair, I only wish that I was in the mood to take care of colour like that anymore. Maybe once I start going grey and want to dye it again! Love the mix of leather look, lace and chain necklace with the messy updo, just perfect!

Project 365: Day 265

Project 365: Day 265

I think fall is officially here, and all the leaves are changing outside! It'll probably be one last warm weekend, then getting right back into the cold. Hoping to get out this weekend to catch the colours before they all disappear, especially around the Snye and MacDonald Island.

It's also only 100 days until I'm done Project 365. My photography has definitely improved by leaps and bounds when I look over the last 9 months and I can only hope it will continue to get better!

Ingrid Michaelson - Blood Brothers

More new music this week, this time after listening to Gotye's Youtube Orchestra for Someone that I Used to Know I followed through and gave her a listen.

Balcony Dream

This looks like such a perfect place to enjoy a tea and book outdoors. It's a little too cold to do that today, with it being close to 0, but I'm glad it's finally Friday!

Project 365: Day 264

Project 365: Day 264

I think this is the end of an era. Really wished it could have worked out, but with so many people gone now, it's hard to get a game to work out. Washing the jerseys now, and hoping they will be put to good use in their new home.

Project 365: Day 263

Project 365: Day 263

It's amazing what a difference a few minutes makes on getting the perfect shot for a sunrise. The skies were ablaze with colour when I woke, but by the time I came out to the balcony, it had dissipated.

The day really started off busy and then quieted down as we went over for dinner with a friend and mentor. Made for a late night, but then, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Patio Dreams

Dreaming of spaces like these where I can sit and read a book and enjoy the weather outside.

Black on Black Tones

Love black on black tones and textures. The hint of sheer is fun, and not too revealing under the black blazer. Another thought as the fall weather rolls in?

Loose Updo

Perfect updo to go with a fun outfit. Looking for some inspiration to save me from the humdrum of my hair. Often it's just long and straight, but I need something different sometimes! Also, in need of a haircut, hopefully by the end of the week.

Project 365: Day 262

Project 365: Day 262

Another day, another experimental dish. Used a buffalo sauce with ground pork to make a taco filling. Turned out pretty decent and tasty, especially paired with the tortillas I made earlier in the week!

Red Pants

It's Jeans Days for the United Way at work this month, and I'm very tempted to find a pair of red jeans to wear in. Of course, that means I have to find a pair that I like first!

Winged Eyeliner

Made the switch to liquid eyeliner in the last few weeks to minimize the amount of smudging that I have. I always seem to rub my eyes sometime during the day and then end up with some major raccoon eyes. I love how easily the pencil goes on, just not how it stays on!

Some tips to get me started, perhaps I will get better at it soon! In other observations, I really like the look that is in this picture. The hair with the eyeliner is perfect, sort of a toned down Amy Winehouse style.

Project 365: Day 261

Project 365: Day 261

I must admit, there are many times that I buy things solely based on the packaging that it comes in. This would be one of them, but it has been great balsamic vinegar that I use on my salads in my bid to eat more healthy these days.

Fall Exploration

Perfect for a fall walk to take some photos and still remain comfortable, warm and stylish. Too bad it's been so difficult for me to find a new jacket!

Piano to Birds

Love this take on a movie poster... now what is this and who are they? Perhaps a movie or musicians, so now to go look for the answers...

Project 365: Day 260

Project 365: Day 260

She always looks surprised, as if we weren't supposed to know that she dove in behind the couch cushions. Oh, silly cat! The posts are definitely cat heavy these days, perhaps I'll do that for the full week then transition back into some of my other shots that I take on a daily basis.

A bit of a runaround day with the gym, some shopping and then taking it easy for the evening. All in all a relaxing Sunday. Browsed through my issue of Flare where there is an article on being overwhelmed, followed by one on optimism. It comes at an appropriate time for me to watch for those things in the coming months. Gives me a perspective and illustrates a lesson that many people that I know need to learn as well.

Giant Pillows Media Room

This looks far too comfortable. I think if I had a room like this, I would be here for days. Reading, drawing, watching movies and listening to music. Maybe one day I will have a room like this?
