Project 365: Day 60

Happy Leap Year Day! Guess I was dreaming of warmer places while I was at work today, it was a chilly -18 day and the wind definitely didn't help. Thinking warm thoughts... spring will come soon, right?

Green Subway Tile Kitchen

Now I don't normally gravitate towards green in my decor choices, but I love the splash of colour that these green subway tiles give to this kitchen. Very chic and modern, and I love the touch of that black wall as well!

DIY Norma Envelope Clutch

Sweet and simple pattern for a do-it-yourself. I may have to try this for my laptop, instead of just for a purse!

Project 365: Day 59

My standard after dinner dessert - a fresh apple! Today the husband was a little creative with his apple arrangement, it looks like a little wing fanning out!

Be Passionate, Be Fearless, Be Strong

While I'm not always a fan of having sayings around my neck, sometimes it's great to have a little mantra for yourself to guide you in the decisions you make everyday. This reminds me that I should follow my passion and that passion will guide me through my decisions, regardless of the consequences. I need to still do a lot of thinking on what I want to do, but I hope by the end of this year, I will know where I want to go with my life.

Project 365: Day 58

A bit of a delay in posting due to technical difficulties on my end. In either case, my photo for Day 58 is of the game that I've just started playing. Much like reading stories, I do enjoy playing these games as well for a similar reason. Unfortunately, once I start, I just can't stop!

Technical Difficulties

No photo yesterday and no posts this morning due to some internet issues. I could not get a steady connection yesterday if I had any at all, might need a call to the service provider. In the meantime enjoy the hanging panda and hopefully I will be up and running again tonight.

DIY Vintage Suitcase Table

What a neat and unique idea for the foot of the bed, or as a coffee table in the living room. I love that it doubles as storage, and would hope that it would even be sturdy enough to sit on! Tutorial following the link.

Ruffles and Bows

While I don't tend to wear things that are super girly, this appeals to my sense of style. I love the little flares of this shirt and the cute bow in the back that gives it a little something extra. It's something to think about for extra embellishment, maybe I can find some fabric I can fashion into one for my outfits...

Project 365: Day 57

The aftermath of our Chinese cooking adventures yesterday. Lots of learn and improve on that's for sure and this steamer will see a lot of action over the next few months!

As a side note, I'm not exactly sure why the dynamic display mode has just stopped working, I can't even re-apply the template. So I've reverted back to an older template until I can figure out what happened, or if it's just a weird glitch that happened today...who knows, maybe I should just keep it?

Beautiful Keys

Simply beautiful, I love all the little details and it would make an amazing necklace to wear on a long chain.

River Side House

What a interesting layout for a small space. Located in Tokyo, Japan and designed by Mizuishi Architect Atelier, this house is located on a small triangular lot of just 29 metres squared. Really good use of space and creating different levels of living.

Project 365: Day 56

A good day of trying out some Chinese recipes out of a cookbook that is at least as old as me, followed by some sushi at Fuji's to end off the night. Great afternoon and dinner spent with some friends, though it was cold out!

Paper Lantern Festival

This is another amazing photo, I would love to see this in person one day...

Grey and Light Kitchen

Bright, natural light and big centre islands in a kitchen, definitely one of my favourite combinations. The neutral grey makes this look clean and sharp with a pop of natural colours on the counter.

Project 365: Day 55

Picked up a roast chicken for dinner tonight, as we have little in the house to cook. Nice after a long day and super convenient when the Superstore is right around the corner from work. It's almost cheaper to buy these than to make them!

Peacock Headpiece

I don't always do feathers, but this one is pretty and eye-catching! Gorgeous, with a bit of bang.

DIY Literary Wall

Hmm, definitely an interesting idea for a weekend project if you are willing to part with a wall and make it a fun standout for the home. You could even do it with covers or pages of magazines, if you don't want to use books or dictionaries. Tutorial following the link.

Project 365: Day 54

Tired from crunching numbers all day for a project, and really glad that it's not something that I have to do all the time! No wonder some people come home exhausted from work and sat at their desk all day. Looking forward to tomorrow being Friday and the weekend, events for Winterplay and an earned day off potentially on Monday!

Still coming back to the light and the bright open windows... imagine relaxing with a book here...

Orange Striped Canvas Bag

I saw this and I think I might just have to go and buy it next time I'm near an H&M. Been hunting for a canvas bag for short trips, and I think this might be it!

Project 365: Day 53

First plastic bill I've seen in Canada, and it's a $100. It is pretty neat, even if the concept has been around for a little while in other countries. Lots of neat security features, and even a transparent panel, which you can see through to the lucky envelope which the bill came in from Chinese New Year's!

Tinker with Colour

Just catching this now, but I like the lookbook from summer 2011 by the Gap. It's pretty fresh and easy to wear, unlike some of the other ones that I saw in the past year. I think I will make it my mission to incorporate more colour this coming year!

Simple White Bedroom

It seems that my tastes lately have been for very simple and light coloured decor. Enjoying the painted floorboards in this particular bedroom and the simplicity of the one painting in the room.

Project 365: Day 52

Been reading up on street photography lately and finding it quite interesting. As they say, you need some real guts to do it, but it can be inspiring and rewarding for those who dare. I do love watching street life and how people interact with their environment, but I know that watching and photographing are two very different things. Reading Thomas Leuthard's books Going Candid and Collecting Souls (found for free on www.85mm.ch) and it's rather coincidental that I took this shot with the exact same lens that is mentioned on this page!

Wollman Rink, Central Park

This is a beautiful print by Edward Pfizenmaier from New York City, 1954. I adore this, it's beautiful black and white with a touch of enchantment by the time and era it is from.

Photo Wall

This is one way to keep photos up and printed. I may have to look at doing that in the study as I complete more of Project 365, I think it would be great to have a visual of my progress throughout the project.

Project 365: Day 51

Three recipes in three days, must be a long weekend. Today was homemade pasta, using the pasta machine we got as a wedding gift. Well cooked and a great chewy texture. Might have to roll it out a little thinner, but it wasn't bad for a first go! It definitely made for a good carbonara tonight.

Colour Blocking

I love the retro outfit Emma Watson pulls off beautifully in this photo shoot. Really, she does so many looks so well. I'm quite envious of her style!

Project 365: Day 50

Today is a lazy Sunday around the house, nothing too special! Just relaxing and popping my feet up in one of our bucket chairs. Hands down one of the most comfortable chairs that we have, it's perfect for curling up in front of the fireplace with a book in hand.

Wade Davis' Office

Love the quirkiness and how interesting this space is. Lots of space, light and natural inspiration everywhere.

Fitted and Loose

Liking the fitted blazer and the loose top underneath. I've always been a bit cautious about doing this as I find that this can overwhelm a petite figure and make it seem sloppy, but maybe it'll be in the outfit list for next week.

Project 365: Day 49

A lazy long weekend Saturday, where I just lazed around, caught up on some of my reading and baked some cookies for a get together with a friend. Going with my old standby of chocolate chip cookies!

Project 365: Day 48

Ah, so glad it's Friday and it's the Family Day weekend! What better way to mark it than by baking a fresh loaf and testing out this recipe for english muffin bread. While the husband is known for eating fresh loaves before they are cool, I had him wait on this one until tomorrow and the flavour develops a bit more. Needless to say, I'm sure he's looking forward to that first slice tomorrow!

Rustic Counters and Steel Windows

Kitchens will always remain my favourite room in a home. This is great as a dual working space, if I didn't have room for the office. Lots of natural light and I really do love the worn table as a counter and those steel windows.

Exposed Brick Bedroom

How beautiful and peaceful this setup is. Love the dusty rose colour on the bed, and how well it compliments the exposed brick wall. The white is the perfect touch here, and I simple adore those prints!

Project 365: Day 47

I'm still learning what are the best settings to capture things that move, and what better object to practice on than my cat! She can be super active at times and often very hard to capture, but sometimes she will just flop down and star vacuously into space, like in this picture!

Vintage Cameras

Been researching some older cameras as of late, having an interesting in picking up and shooting film for fun lately! Found this interesting buyer's guide with lots of fun cameras! This one caught my eye just for the fun, vintage colour!

Project 365: Day 46

Spent the evening just relaxing with the computer and the cat. Still quite tired, so looking to take an early night. I think that tomorrow will be an interesting day, whether I need it or not.

Project 365: Day 45

Flowers accompanied by a chai latte from the husband when he came home today, how sweet of him! A bit of a low key Valentine's, with pizza and soup for dinner. Didn't really want to cook tonight, so it was great to just sit and enjoy each other's company!

Blazer and Skirt

Enjoying this preppy look, particularly the draping of this beautiful skirt. I haven't been able to find any skirts lately, but maybe I have to just continue the hunt.

Zig Zag Rug

I love how this rug ties everything together here, bold and yet subtle at the same time in this understated room. Also, quite loving the couch and the accent yellow pillow!

Project 365: Day 44

Up at 5:00am for my flights today, with a layover in the Calgary airport. There is something kind of peaceful and relaxing about sitting a bit chair just watching the activity on the tarmac.

Running in the Snowy Forest

Absolutely breathtaking. One day, it would be amazing to do a run like this through the forest.
